Continued use of a browser will build up temporary files which will slow it down and affect connectivity- these are stored in what is known as the cache and clearing this should help in many situations.
Difficulty may also be experienced in using certain apps that open in a browser (e.g. Sharepoint) – clearing the cache may also resolve this.
Please follow the instructions below to clear the cache in either Microsoft Edge (recommended browser) or Google Chrome
Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge,
- Select Menu (3 dots icon on top right corner of the browser)
- Select Settings >
- Select Privacy, search & services.
- Under Clear browsing data, select Choose what to clear.
- Select Browsing history, Download history, Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, and then select Clear now.
Chrome
- Open Chrome.
- At the top right, click Menu (3 dots icon on top right corner of the browser)
- Click More tools and then Clear browsing data.
- At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
- Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
- Click Clear data.
Please Note:
- Edge is the main supported browser within CBH although we understand many colleagues use Chrome. If you use another browser, please refer to online support for that browser.
- We do not advise the use of the (now obsolete) Internet Explorer browser in any circumstances except when this is enforced using certain apps still in use by CBC/CBH.
