PLEASE NOTE - these instructions are designed to help you use the Meeting Owl which is quite straightforward - however, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you familiarise yourself with these and if possible practice well before your meeting


We have two Meeting Owls, which are combined 360° cameras that give a panoramic view of a meeting room (installed in Rooms 2 and 6) and integrated surround sound speakers/mic.

They are designed to sit in the middle of the table and the meeting organiser then connects their device to the Owl and controls it using an app. They replace the old USB cameras that we had installed on the old PC’s that were connected to the large screens. They will connect to laptops, tablets and mobile phones via a USB-C cable attached to the Owl

Setup


To use the Meeting Owl with a laptop please download and install the meeting_owl_desktop.msix file at the foot of this article. 


For mobile phones/Android tablets, you can download the Meeting Owl app directly from the Play Store on your phone or tablet.

Plug the Meeting Owl into your device using the USB-C cable attached to the Owl and then open the app which will give you control options for the Owl.


How to start a meeting in Microsoft Teams on Windows on the Owl


To start a meeting in Microsoft Teams on a Windows computer, set up your Meeting Owl, and then use the following instructions to start a meeting.


  1. In the Microsoft Teams main window, click your profile picture/initials in the top right of the window then select Settings from the drop-down menu.
  2. Select Devices from the menu on the left.
  3. Choose Meeting Owl as your Audio devices (Speaker & Microphone).
  4. Scroll down to Camera.
  5. Choose Meeting Owl as your Camera
  6. Select the participants you would like to call from either the Chat, Teams, or Calls menu on the left.
  7. Select the video icon (camera) in Teams  to start your call.
